3. An assessment regarding the benefits and drawbacks of the new technology.



Through the world of Marketing there are many drawbacks and benefits of using technology. Some of the benefits that technology has on the field of Marketing for example Instead of printing hundreds of newsletters we can now easily and efficiently send them by e-mail and still reach every person. An online discussion is also a great way that technology benefits Marketing. In the field of Marketing people need to be able to get their ideas out and talk to one another constantly. Through an online discussion you can talk to almost anyone in the world by simply posting a question or a comment on how to market a product. Using a blackberry another form of technology keeps people in the marketing world connected to one another. With a touch of a button you can be in touch with colleague or even a Boss that would normally be hard to find in person. Bluetooth a commonly used product on a phone can help you promote a product onto people’s phones with a very low cost. However there are some drawbacks of technology used in Marketing for example although e-mail keeps many people in touch, you wouldn’t want to interview someone over e-mail. As in any type of business people need to be able to interact with each other whether it includes an interview or networking. Interacting with others in person is always more personable and memorable then over the Internet. Although technology is very helpful in Marketing not all of the technology is very easy and user friendly. Having to constantly update and maintain a website can take a lot of time and can be difficult to learn how. Many types of technology take a lot of time to understand in order to use it properly. Overall all technology has benefits and drawbacks however you need to be able to find out which ones work for your business.
